Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/3 cup milk - scant
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
  1. Beat Crisco shortening and (butter or margarine) until light in color.
  2. Add cocoa and half of the powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until creamy
  3. Add remaining powdered sugar and the milk one tablespoon at a time until desired spreading consistency.
  4. Spread some of the frosting on the cake to create a crumb barrier. 
  5. I used a star piping tip to create a rose affect on the cake. It's much easier spreading this way and looks really pretty.
